2006 UPDATES

Solo I, HPCCC/HPDE and Solo Trials were consolidated into the Time Trials program within Club Racing in 2005.  The revitalized Time Trials program includes four levels of events; Level 1 Performance Driving Experience (PDX), Level 2 Club Trials (CT), Level 3 Track Trials (TT) and Level 4 Hillclimbs (HC).  The Time Trials Administrative Council, Chaired by Mark McCloskey (NWR), is the main governing body for the TT Program.  The TTAC consists of representatives from each Division with an active Time Trials program.  A Time Trials Safety Council advises the TTAC on matters of safety.

Norpac is a leader in implementing the revitalized Time Trials program.  Northwest, Oregon and Reno regions held PDX, Club Trials or Track Trials in the inaugural 2005 season with more planned in 2006.  The new Time Trials program has sufficient flexibility to support events at airports or other suitable facilities as well as closed circuit race tracks.  Level 2 Club Trials and Level 3 Track Trials are particularly popular in Northwest and Reno regions and may be worth looking into in your region as well. Drivers that wish to compete at speeds higher than those allowed in Solo, but do not have an all out race car and are unable to compete in wheel to wheel racing are prime candidates for Level 2 Club Trials.  Drivers with race prepared cars that are not ready for wheel to wheel competition, or drivers with competition licenses that want additional track time are candidates for Level 3 Track Trials.

Dave Deborde accepted the newly created position of Division Time Trials Program Manager (similar to Division Administrator) for the Northern Pacific Division.  As program manager, I am available to any Norpac region to assist with program development, schedule coordination, Time Trials Rules familiarization, Official licensing, Novice Driver Permit issuance, or anything else that will help promote and expand the Time Trials Program.  Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments by email: d_deborde@charter.net; home phone (775) 267-4845; or cell (775) 450-1394.

New for 2006 and unique to our Division is a Norpac Club Trials/Track Trials Championship Series.  The series culminates in the Norpac Time Trials Championship event on September 16 & 17 at the Reno-Fernley Raceway.  Details are being finalized but points from any two region CT/TT events, added to the results from the Reno-Fernley Championship will determine Norpac Class Champions.  This is an opportunity for drivers to experience the Reno-Fernley Raceway and compete in the inaugural Divisional Time Trials Championship.  There is still time to add Track Trials to your Regional Race program or form a Regional Club Trials series and join in the NorPac Championship.
